Meito – Strawberry Wafers

Very thin Japanese wafers, filled with strawberry cream. Meito stacks thin, crispy layers with a pink cream nestled in between, more fragrant than sweet. They snap cleanly and don't stick to your fingers.

It's not a waffle but a wafer: lighter, drier, designed to accompany tea or coffee. Japanese snacks of this kind rarely make it to local grocery stores, except in specialty shops.
